2016 – Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta (Oct 1)

The 19th running of Petit Le Mans was held at Road Atlanta on October 1. Olivier Pla, John Pew, and Oswaldo Negri Jr. won this 10 hour endurance race in the #60 Michael Shank Racing Honda HPD Ligier JS P2. Eric Curran and Dane Cameron took the 2016 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with fourth place in the #31 Action Express Racing Corvette DP, with Simon Pagenaud. This was a fitting way to end the season, since this would be the last time Daytona Prototypes would compete in this series. 2016 – Practice from day to night at Petit Le Mans Road Atlanta (Sep 29)

Day two at Road Atlanta would see the WeatherTech Sportscar Championship cars on the track for three practice sessions. Practice one was in the morning, second practice in the afternoon, and the third was at night. This was a great opportunity to explore the track and to get shots of the cars from day to night. 2016 – Saturday races at the Historic Festival 34 Lime Rock Park (Sep 3)

2016 – The Northeast GP Lime Rock Park (Jul 23)

Saturday July 23 was race day for the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship Northeast GP at Lime Rock Park. Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner won GTLM class in the #4 Corvette C7.R, which gave Corvette Racing its 100th sports car victory. Hope you like the photos.

2016 – Day 1 at the Northeast GP Lime Rock Park (Jul 21)

Round 8 of the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship was held at Lime Rock Park at the end of July. 2016 – Mobil 1 Sportscar GP at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (Jul 7 to 10)

Its been a few weeks since my last blog, but now have a chance to take a look back at round 7 of the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship that was held at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) in early July. CTMP (aka Mosport) is a beautiful natural terrain 2.5 mile road course located in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada. The 2 hour 40 minute race was won by Dane Cameron and Eric Curran in the #31 Action Express Racing Corvette Daytona Prototype. Hope you like the photos.

2016 – Day 2 at the Six Hours of the Glen (Jul 3)

Sunday, July 3rd, was race day for the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship at Watkins Glen International (WGI). After 197 laps, the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen was won by João Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi in the #5 Action Express Racing Corvette DP. 2016 – Day 1 at the Six Hours of the Glen (Jul 2)

A couple of weeks ago my wife and I met some friends at Watkins Glen International (WGI) for the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen. WGI, also known as the mecca of North American racing, is located in the Finger Lakes district in upstate New York. Spent the day covering the WeatherTech Championship practice, paddock, and qualifying; and the Lamborghini Trofeo race from the “spectators” side of the fence. Hope you like the photos.

2016 – 64th Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours at Sebring International Raceway (Mar 19)

The 12 Hours of Sebring started under overcast skies on Saturday March 19th at Sebring International Raceway.  Over the course of this endurance race we experienced sun, rain, light, and dark.  This blog is about my experience covering the race from the spectator side of the fence. 2016 – Day 3 Morning Warm-up and Paddock at Sebring International Raceway (Mar 19)

The 64th annual running of the 12 Hours of Sebring was held on Saturday March 19th at Sebring International Raceway.  Over the course of this classic endurance race we experienced sun, rain, light, and dark. We also witnessed how the overall winning team won there second consecutive race in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship taking the so-called 36 Hours of Florida. 2016 – Day 2 at Sebring International Raceway (Mar 18)

Friday was my second day at Sebring International Raceway. For the morning sessions, headed over to the outside of the front straight near the entry to Turn 1. For the rest of the day explored the inside of Turns 16 through 14, then cut over to the outside of Turns 2 to 4 in the afternoon. Was a good day to explore the circuit with all the track action ranging from Porsche GT3 Cup and Continental Tire Challenge races to the WeatherTech Championship practice and qualifying sessions. 2016 – Day 1 at Sebring International Raceway (Mar 17)

After a long winter hiatus, it was great to get back to the race track last week for the 12 Hours of Sebring and to catch up with friends. This event is held at Sebring International Raceway which is one of America’s classic sportscar racing tracks with 17 turns over a length of about 3.7 miles. Its been a couple of years since I last visited this track, and was glad to make it back for the 12 Hour race. 2015 – GT Class Season Finale at Laguna Seca (Sep 10 and 13)

Round 20 of the GT class for the Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) was held at Laguna Seca in Salinas, California (September 10 to 13). This 11-turn road course is about 2.3 miles in length and is known for the iconic “Corkscrew” turn. The season finale was won by Alessandro Balzan in the #29 NGT Motorsport Ferrari 458 GT3 Italia. However, the championship went to Johnny O’Connell in the #3 Cadillac Racing Cadillac ATS-VR GT3 who finished 12th over Olivier Beretta who had a DNF minutes from the end of the race. It was certainly a thrilling end to the GT season. Can’t wait for next year. Hope you like the photos.

2015 – PWC GTS Class at Sonoma Raceway (Aug 28 to 30)

The Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) GTS class rounds 15 & 16 were held at Sonoma Raceway (August 28 to 30). Round 15 was won by Andy Lee in the #20 BestIT Racing Chevrolet Camaro and Michael Cooper won Round 16 in the #10 Blackdog Speed Shop Chevrolet Z28. Hope you like the photos.

2015 – Round 19 of the PWC GT Class at Sonoma Raceway (Aug 30)

Round 19 of the Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) was held at Sonoma Raceway on Sunday (August 30). Renger van der Zande won GT class in the #31 EFFORT Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R and GTA class went to Frank Montecalvo in the #66 DragonSpeed Mercedes-Benz AMG SLS GT3. GT Cup class was won by Colin Thompson in the #11 Kelly-Moss Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. 2015 – Round 18 of the PWC GT Class at Sonoma Raceway (Aug 29)

Round 18 of the Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) GT/GTA class was held Saturday afternoon (August 29) at Sonoma Raceway. Kevin Estre in the #9 K-Pax Racing McLaren 650S GT3 won GT class and Christina Nielsen won GTA class in the #7 TRG-AMR Aston Martin Vantage GT3. GT Cup class went to Alec Udell in the #17 Global Motorsports Group Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. Hope you like the photos.

2015 – PWC GT Class Round 15 at Mid-Ohio (Aug 2)

GT Class round 15 of the Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) was held on Sunday (August 2) at the Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course. Ryan Dalziel won GT class driving the #31 EFFORT Racing Porsche 911 GT3R. Bryan Heitkotter was first for GTA class in the #05 Always Evolving Racing Nissan GT-R-GT3. Teenager Austin Cindric had an impressive weekend for GTA class in the #25 Blancpain Racing Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 REX with pole position for the Saturday race and second place in Sunday’s race. 2015 – GT Class Qualifying and Driver Autographs at Mid-Ohio (Aug 1)

GT Class qualifying for the Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) was held Saturday morning (August 1) under beautiful morning light. Top qualifier was Ryan Dalziel in the #31 EFFORT Racing Porsche 911 GT3R with a time of 1:19.838 and speed of 101.816 mph. Later in the day was the drivers autographs which was a great opportunity for fans to meet the drivers. 2015 – TUDOR United Sportscar Championship at Lime Rock Park (Jul 25)

IMSA returned to Lime Rock Park for the Northeast Grand Prix. The beautiful natural terrain track is about 1.5 miles in length and is situated in the Berkshire mountains in Lakeville, Connecticut. The PC Prototypes and GT Daytona (GTD) classes of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship (TUSCC) competed in the Saturday afternoon race. PC class was won by Mike Guasch and Tom Kimber-Smith in the #52 ORECA FLM09. Michael Marsal and Dane Cameron won the GTD class in the #97 Turner Motorsport BMW Z4. Hope you like the photos.

2015 – PWC GTS Class Testing and Practice at Road America (Jun 25 and 26)

The Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) GTS class testing and practice were held on Thursday and Friday (June 25 and 26). After Practice 2, Mark Wilkins in the #38 Kinetic Motorsports/Kia Racing Kia Optima topped the charts with a fastest lap of 2:17.831 at 105.729 mph. Second fastest was Jack Baldwin in the #73 GTSport Racing Porsche Cayman S, then Ben Clucas in the #36 Kinetic Motorsports / Kia Racing Kia Optima. Hope you like the photos. 2015 – Thursday PWC GT Class at Road America (Jun 25 to 28)

The Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) GT/GTA Rounds 11, 12, and 13; and GT Cup Rounds 10 and 11 were held at Road America near Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. The track is about 4.1 miles in length, with 14 turns, has many elevation changes, and long straights. The track is known as “America’s Nurburgring”. It certainly is one of the most picturesque road courses I’ve been too. Arrived at the track on Thursday in time to cover the afternoon testing and practice sessions. Hope you like the photos.

2015 – Part 1 of TUSCC at the Detroit Chevrolet Sports Car Classic (May 29 to 31)

The Tudor United SportsCar Championship (TUSCC) prototype and GTD class cars were at Detroit Belle Isle for the Chevrolet Sports Car Classic. Eric Curran and Dane Cameron in the #31 Action Express Racing Corvette was the overall and P class winner.  PC class was won by Renger van der Zande and Mirco Schultis in the #8 Starworks Motorsport ORECA FLM09. Ian James and Mario Farnbacher in the #23 Team Seattle/Alex Job Racing Porsche 911 GT America won GTD class. 2015 – Indy Car Dual in Detroit Race 2 (May 29 to 31)

The IndyCar Dual in Detroit Race 2 was held Sunday afternoon under overcast skies on a wet track. After 68 laps, Sebastien Bourdais won the race in the #11 KVSH Racing Chevrolet. Second was Takuma Sato in the #14 A.J. Foyt Enterprises Honda and Graham Rahal in the #15 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Honda was third. Hope you like the photos.

2015 – Indy Car Sunday Qualifying at the Detroit Belle Isle GP (May 29 to 31)

Sunday morning qualifying for the IndyCar Dual in Detroit 2 was abandoned about half-way through the session due to heavy rain.  Championship point standings were used to set the starting positions for the afternoon race.
