2015 – PWC GTS Class at Sonoma Raceway (Aug 28 to 30)

The Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) GTS class rounds 15 & 16 were held at Sonoma Raceway (August 28 to 30). Round 15 was won by Andy Lee in the #20 BestIT Racing Chevrolet Camaro and Michael Cooper won Round 16 in the #10 Blackdog Speed Shop Chevrolet Z28. Hope you like the photos.

2015 – Round 19 of the PWC GT Class at Sonoma Raceway (Aug 30)

Round 19 of the Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) was held at Sonoma Raceway on Sunday (August 30). Renger van der Zande won GT class in the #31 EFFORT Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R and GTA class went to Frank Montecalvo in the #66 DragonSpeed Mercedes-Benz AMG SLS GT3. GT Cup class was won by Colin Thompson in the #11 Kelly-Moss Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. 2015 – Round 18 of the PWC GT Class at Sonoma Raceway (Aug 29)

Round 18 of the Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) GT/GTA class was held Saturday afternoon (August 29) at Sonoma Raceway. Kevin Estre in the #9 K-Pax Racing McLaren 650S GT3 won GT class and Christina Nielsen won GTA class in the #7 TRG-AMR Aston Martin Vantage GT3. GT Cup class went to Alec Udell in the #17 Global Motorsports Group Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. Hope you like the photos.

2015 – PWC GT Class Practice at Sonoma Raceway (Aug 28)

2015 – Indy Car Grand Prix of Sonoma (Aug 30)

The IndyCar Grand Prix of Sonoma was held on Sunday afternoon (August 30) under sunny blue skies. Going into the race, six drivers from four different teams were mathematically in contention for the championship title. Scott Dixon in the #9 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet won the race and his forth championship via a tiebreaker with Juan Pablo Montoya. Congratulations to Scott Dixon and Chip Ganassi Racing. Looking forward to next years IndyCar season, and excited that a race will be held in my hometown of Boston. Thanks to everyone who has helped me this year. Hope you like the photos.

2015 – Indy Car Practice and Qualifying at Sonoma Raceway (Aug 29)

IndyCar practice and qualifying for the the GP of Sonoma was held on Saturday (August 29). Ryan Hunter-Reay in the #28 Andretti Autosport Honda topped the morning practice sheets with a time of 01:16.8702 and speed of 111.695 mph. For the afternoon qualifying, Will Power in the #1 Team Penske Chevrolet took pole position with a time of 01:16.2597 and speed of 112.589 mph. Second fastest was Josef Newgarden in the #67 CFH Racing Chevrolet, then Ryan Hunter-Reay in the #28 Andretti Autosport Honda. Hope you like the photos.

2015 – Indy Car Practice at Sonoma Raceway (Aug 29)

The final round of the IndyCar series was held at Sonoma Raceway. The 2.4 mile road course is located at Sears Point in the beautiful Sonoma mountains in California. Going into the race weekend, six drivers from four different teams were in contention for the championship title. The race weekend started with a 3.5 hour practice session on Friday afternoon. Will Power in the #1 Team Penske Chevrolet topped the practice timesheet, followed by Graham Rahal in the #15 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Honda, and Ryan Hunter-Reay in the #28 Andretti Autosport Honda. Retrospective – Toronto to Miller With The PWC in 2014 (part 2)

After a months break, the Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) series headed over the border to Canada, then back to the USA for Mid-Ohio, Sonoma, and the season finale at Miller.  Congratulations to Johnny O’Connell (GT), Michael Mills (GT-A), Lawson Aschenbach (GTS), Cadillac (GT), and Kia (GTS) for winning their respective championships. 2014 Road America to Lime Rock Park – Part Three of My Motorsport Photography Year

The last part of my 2014 year in motorsports photography will focus on the second half of the Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) season, as well as Indy Car, and races held at Lime Rock Park. As I reflect back, I think wow, what a great experience and learning opportunity this was. Thanks again to those who gave me the chance and helped me through the year. Retrospective – 2014 Grand Prix of Sonoma (August 24)

Will Power started on pole position and led for about a third of the race, but took a spin on lap 40, which cost him several positions. Two laps from the end of the 85 lap race, Scott Dixon in the #9 Target Chip Ganassi passed Mike Conway and went on to win, with Ryan Hunter-Reay finishing second, and  Simon Pagenaud third. Retrospective – 2014 Grand Prix of Sonoma Qualifying (August 23)

The Saturday qualifying session for the Grand Prix of Sonoma was taken by Will Power with a fastest lap of 1 minute and 17.4 seconds. Josef Newgarden was second fastest and Scott Dixon third. Was an exciting qualifying session. Hope you like the photos.

Retrospective – 2014 Grand Prix of Sonoma Practice (August 23)

The beautiful Sonoma Raceway is located at Sears Point in the Sonoma Mountains in California. This road circuit is about 2.5 miles in length, with 12 turns, and elevation changes of about 160 feet. Even though the on-track action was exciting, the weekend would be remembered for the earthquake that occurred. Despite this intervention by “Mother Nature”, the race went ahead as scheduled. Scott Dixon won the race, with Ryan  Hunter-Reay placing second, and Simon  Pagenaud coming third.
