Last weekend the IMSA Northeast Grand Prix was held at Lime Rock Park, which is situated in the foothills of the beautiful Berkshire Mountains in Connecticut. The circuit is tree-lined, with many elevation changes, which provide opportunities to find locations with unique angles and lighting conditions. The 101st-running of the Indy 500 at the Indianapolis Motorspeedway (IMS) was won by Takuma Sato in the #26 Andretti Autosport Honda. Its been a couple of days since Sato’s victory and thought it would be a good time to look back at his two weeks at the Indy 500. Hope you like the photos.
Day two at Road Atlanta would see the WeatherTech Sportscar Championship cars on the track for three practice sessions. Practice one was in the morning, second practice in the afternoon, and the third was at night. This was a great opportunity to explore the track and to get shots of the cars from day to night. Round 20 of the GT class for the Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) was held at Laguna Seca in Salinas, California (September 10 to 13). This 11-turn road course is about 2.3 miles in length and is known for the iconic “Corkscrew” turn. The season finale was won by Alessandro Balzan in the #29 NGT Motorsport Ferrari 458 GT3 Italia. However, the championship went to Johnny O’Connell in the #3 Cadillac Racing Cadillac ATS-VR GT3 who finished 12th over Olivier Beretta who had a DNF minutes from the end of the race. It was certainly a thrilling end to the GT season. Can’t wait for next year. Hope you like the photos.

The Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) GTS class rounds 15 & 16 were held at Sonoma Raceway (August 28 to 30). Round 15 was won by Andy Lee in the #20 BestIT Racing Chevrolet Camaro and Michael Cooper won Round 16 in the #10 Blackdog Speed Shop Chevrolet Z28. Hope you like the photos.

Round 19 of the Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) was held at Sonoma Raceway on Sunday (August 30). Renger van der Zande won GT class in the #31 EFFORT Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R and GTA class went to Frank Montecalvo in the #66 DragonSpeed Mercedes-Benz AMG SLS GT3. GT Cup class was won by Colin Thompson in the #11 Kelly-Moss Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. Hope you like the photos.

Round 18 of the Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) GT/GTA class was held Saturday afternoon (August 29) at Sonoma Raceway. Kevin Estre in the #9 K-Pax Racing McLaren 650S GT3 won GT class and Christina Nielsen won GTA class in the #7 TRG-AMR Aston Martin Vantage GT3. GT Cup class went to Alec Udell in the #17 Global Motorsports Group Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. Hope you like the photos.

The IndyCar Grand Prix of Sonoma was held on Sunday afternoon (August 30) under sunny blue skies. Going into the race, six drivers from four different teams were mathematically in contention for the championship title. Scott Dixon in the #9 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet won the race and his forth championship via a tiebreaker with Juan Pablo Montoya. Congratulations to Scott Dixon and Chip Ganassi Racing. Looking forward to next years IndyCar season, and excited that a race will be held in my hometown of Boston. Thanks to everyone who has helped me this year. Hope you like the photos.

IndyCar practice and qualifying for the the GP of Sonoma was held on Saturday (August 29). Ryan Hunter-Reay in the #28 Andretti Autosport Honda topped the morning practice sheets with a time of 01:16.8702 and speed of 111.695 mph. For the afternoon qualifying, Will Power in the #1 Team Penske Chevrolet took pole position with a time of 01:16.2597 and speed of 112.589 mph. Second fastest was Josef Newgarden in the #67 CFH Racing Chevrolet, then Ryan Hunter-Reay in the #28 Andretti Autosport Honda. Hope you like the photos.

The final round of the IndyCar series was held at Sonoma Raceway. The 2.4 mile road course is located at Sears Point in the beautiful Sonoma mountains in California. Going into the race weekend, six drivers from four different teams were in contention for the championship title. The race weekend started with a 3.5 hour practice session on Friday afternoon. Will Power in the #1 Team Penske Chevrolet topped the practice timesheet, followed by Graham Rahal in the #15 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Honda, and Ryan Hunter-Reay in the #28 Andretti Autosport Honda. GT Class qualifying for the Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) was held Saturday morning (August 1) under beautiful morning light. Top qualifier was Ryan Dalziel in the #31 EFFORT Racing Porsche 911 GT3R with a time of 1:19.838 and speed of 101.816 mph. On Saturday morning (June 27) the Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) and North America Sportscar held “Caffeine & Octane” at the RealTime Team paddock. This was a great way to meet the drivers while having a cup of coffee. Later that morning, the GT/GTA/GT-Cup classes held their warm-up session for the afternoon race. Round 12 was won by Chris Dyson in the #16 Bentley Team Dyson Racing Bentley Continental GT3. GTA class was won by Frank Montecalvo in the #66 DragonSpeed Mercedes-Benz AMG SLS GT3 and GT-Cup was won by Colin Thompson in the #11 Kelly-Moss Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. The Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) GT/GTA Rounds 11, 12, and 13; and GT Cup Rounds 10 and 11 were held at Road America near Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. The track is about 4.1 miles in length, with 14 turns, has many elevation changes, and long straights. The track is known as “America’s Nurburgring”. It certainly is one of the most picturesque road courses I’ve been too. Arrived at the track on Thursday in time to cover the afternoon testing and practice sessions. Hope you like the photos.
