2016 – Day 1 at the Northeast GP Lime Rock Park (Jul 21)

Round 8 of the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship was held at Lime Rock Park at the end of July. Lime Rock Park is a beautiful 1.5 mile natural-terrain road course set in the hills of Lakeville, Connecticut. The next few blogs will take a look back at this event. First up is the paddock load in day. Hope you like the photos.

2016 LRP (4A4A4172)Took a relatively short road trip of about 3 hours from Boston to Lime Rock Park. Arrived at the track in the afternoon and took a walk around the paddock to cover the teams unloading their cars and getting their garages set up. For the walk around the paddock decided to only use the Canon 5D Mark III and 50mm f/1.2L lens. Having one camera and lens is a good way to restrict your gear options, which helps me to be more creative, since it forces me to move around to compose the shot.

2016 LRP (4A4A4132)One of my favorite cars is the Ford GT. Here’s a few shots of the Ford Chip Ganassi Racing team getting their garage together. Really like the lines of this car.

2016 LRP (4A4A4030)Tires are one of the major components of a race car and Michelin were hard at work getting tires mounted and wheels balanced.

2015 LRP (4A4A4054)Have always liked the blue and yellow livery on the Turner Motorsport Bimmers.

2016 LRP (4A4A4212)Some “artsy” shots of the #912 Porsche North America Porsche 911 RSR being unloaded from the transporter and being pushed into position.

2016 LRP (4A4A4168)The green livery on the #16 Change Racing Lamborghini Huracán GT3 appeared to “glow” in the shadows.

2016 LRP (4A4A4341)Left the paddock around 4 pm, so could get back to the hotel, have dinner, and get my camera gear together for the next day.
