Round 8 of the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship was held at Lime Rock Park at the end of July. Lime Rock Park is a beautiful 1.5 mile natural-terrain road course set in the hills of Lakeville, Connecticut. The next few blogs will take a look back at this event. First up is the paddock load in day. Hope you like the photos.
Took a relatively short road trip of about 3 hours from Boston to Lime Rock Park. Arrived at the track in the afternoon and took a walk around the paddock to cover the teams unloading their cars and getting their garages set up. For the walk around the paddock decided to only use the Canon 5D Mark III and 50mm f/1.2L lens. Having one camera and lens is a good way to restrict your gear options, which helps me to be more creative, since it forces me to move around to compose the shot.
One of my favorite cars is the Ford GT. Here’s a few shots of the Ford Chip Ganassi Racing team getting their garage together. Really like the lines of this car.
Tires are one of the major components of a race car and Michelin were hard at work getting tires mounted and wheels balanced.
Have always liked the blue and yellow livery on the Turner Motorsport Bimmers.
The sleek lines of the #27 Dream Racing Lamborghini Huracán GT3 and steering wheel.
Flying!
Getting the BMW Team RLL BMW M6 GTLM into the garage.
As the day progressed the teams finished getting their garages together and started to work on their cars. The #22 Alex Job Racing Porsche 911 GT3R.
Some “artsy” shots of the #912 Porsche North America Porsche 911 RSR being unloaded from the transporter and being pushed into position.
The green livery on the #16 Change Racing Lamborghini Huracán GT3 appeared to “glow” in the shadows.
Towards the end of the afternoon, spent some time watching the cars being inspected at the IMSA Technical Inspection station. Corvette Racing Corvette C7.R’s.
Took some detail shots of the #66 Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Ford GT while it was waiting its turn at the IMSA Inspection Technical station.
Left the paddock around 4 pm, so could get back to the hotel, have dinner, and get my camera gear together for the next day.
As I was leaving the paddock noticed some drivers were walking the track to help them get familiarized with the circuit.
Thanks “Lime Rock Park”. Looking forward to getting back to the track on Friday for practice and qualifying.
