2017 – IndyCar GP at Watkins Glen International (Aug 31 to Sep 1)

This weekend is the season finale at Sonoma which will decide this years IndyCar Champion. Thought it would be a good time to look back at the penultimate race of the season at Watkins Glen International. Going into the IndyCar Grand Prix were eight drivers who had a mathematical chance of winning the championship. Of these drivers, Alexander Rossi in the #98 Andretti Herta Autosport w/Curb-Agajanian, would dominate the weekend with pole position and winning the race. 2017 – The Indy 500 in 50 Photos and the Stories Behind Them (Jun 14)

The months of May and June are a great time of the year to be a race car fan with the Triple Crown of Motorsports being held. This week is the 24 Hours of Le Mans. A few weeks ago were the Monaco Grand Prix and the Indy 500. They call the Indy 500 “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” and you can understand why when you see and hear 350,000 fans cheering at the start of the race as the Indy Cars speed down the front straight. 2017 – Sato Wins the Indy 500 (Jun 1)

The 101st-running of the Indy 500 at the Indianapolis Motorspeedway (IMS) was won by Takuma Sato in the #26 Andretti Autosport Honda. Its been a couple of days since Sato’s victory and thought it would be a good time to look back at his two weeks at the Indy 500. Hope you like the photos.

2016 – 100th Running of the Indy 500 (May 29)

The final blog from the month of May from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) is about the 100th Running of the Indy 500. A sellout crowd witnessed Alexander Rossi win this historic race in the #98 Andretti Herta Autosport with Curb-Agajanian. 2016 – Indy 500 Qualifications Day (May 21)

The third blog from the month of May at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) is about Qualifications Day. This is the day when the nine drivers with the fastest four-lap qualification attempts are determined, who then take part in the Fast Nine Shootout for pole on Sunday. 2016 – Indy 500 Fast Friday (May 20)

The second blog from the month of May at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) is about Fast Friday which occurs the week before the Indy 500. Fast Friday refers to the final practice session before qualifying, since the fastest speeds are usually seen on this day. Will Power had the fastest lap of the day and reached a speed of 232.672 mph in the #12 Team Penske. Hope you like the photos.

2016 – Angie’s List GP of Indianapolis (May 12 to 14)

Apologies for not posting blogs earlier, but May was a busy month with back-to-back Indy Car events at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) that culminated in the 100th running of the Indy 500. 2015 – Indy Car Grand Prix of Sonoma (Aug 30)

The IndyCar Grand Prix of Sonoma was held on Sunday afternoon (August 30) under sunny blue skies. Going into the race, six drivers from four different teams were mathematically in contention for the championship title. Scott Dixon in the #9 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet won the race and his forth championship via a tiebreaker with Juan Pablo Montoya. Congratulations to Scott Dixon and Chip Ganassi Racing. Looking forward to next years IndyCar season, and excited that a race will be held in my hometown of Boston. Thanks to everyone who has helped me this year. Hope you like the photos.

2015 – Indy Car Practice and Qualifying at Sonoma Raceway (Aug 29)

IndyCar practice and qualifying for the the GP of Sonoma was held on Saturday (August 29). Ryan Hunter-Reay in the #28 Andretti Autosport Honda topped the morning practice sheets with a time of 01:16.8702 and speed of 111.695 mph. For the afternoon qualifying, Will Power in the #1 Team Penske Chevrolet took pole position with a time of 01:16.2597 and speed of 112.589 mph. Second fastest was Josef Newgarden in the #67 CFH Racing Chevrolet, then Ryan Hunter-Reay in the #28 Andretti Autosport Honda. Hope you like the photos.

2015 – Indy Car Practice at Sonoma Raceway (Aug 29)

The final round of the IndyCar series was held at Sonoma Raceway. The 2.4 mile road course is located at Sears Point in the beautiful Sonoma mountains in California. Going into the race weekend, six drivers from four different teams were in contention for the championship title. The race weekend started with a 3.5 hour practice session on Friday afternoon. Will Power in the #1 Team Penske Chevrolet topped the practice timesheet, followed by Graham Rahal in the #15 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Honda, and Ryan Hunter-Reay in the #28 Andretti Autosport Honda. 2015 – Honda Indy 200 in Black and White (Aug 2)

The Honda Indy 200 was held Sunday afternoon (August 2) at the Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course. Graham Rahal in the #15 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Honda won the race after 90 laps. Second was Justin Wilson in the #25 Andretti Autosport Honda and third was Simon Pagenaud in the #22 Team Penske Chevrolet. Hope you like the photos.

2015 – Indy Car qualifying at Mid-Ohio (Aug 1)

Qualifying for the Honda Indy 200 at the Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course was held on Saturday (August 1). Scott Dixon took pole position in the #9 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet with a fastest time of 01:04.5814 and speed of 125.869 mph. Second fastest was Will Power in the #1 Team Penske Chevrolet, and third fastest was Sebastien Bourdais in the #11 KVSH Racing Chevrolet. Hope you like the photos.

2015 – Indy Car Practice at Mid-Ohio (Jul 31 and Aug 1)

IndyCar practice was held on Friday and Saturday (August 1). Ryan Hunter-Reay in the #28 Andretti Autosport Honda topped the time-sheets with 01:06.5160 at a top speed of 122.208 mph after three practice sessions. Helio Castroneves in the #3 Team Penske Chevrolet was second fastest and third fastest was Jack Hawksworth in the #41 A.J. 2015 – Indy Car paddock walk-around (Jul 30)

The Honda Indy 200 was held at the picturesque Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course last weekend. The road course is about 2.4 miles long with 13 turns and is located in Lexington, Ohio. Different parts of the track are known as The Keyhole, China Beach, The Esses, Thunder Valley, and The Carousel. Over the next few blogs, hope to show you what its like to experience IndyCar at Mid-Ohio. First up is a walk around the paddock on Thursday (July 30) while the teams were setting up. 2015 – Indy Car in Black and White with the Dual in Detroit Race 1 (May 29 to 31)

The IndyCar Chevrolet Dual in Detroit Race 1 was held Saturday afternoon under overcast skies and wet conditions. After 47 of the scheduled 70 laps, the race was red flagged due to bad weather. Carlos Munoz won his first IndyCar race in the #26 Andretti Autosport – HVM Racing Honda. Marco Andretti in the #27 Andretti Autosport Honda was second and Simon Pagenaud in the #22 Team Penske Chevrolet was third. The first IndyCar practice session for the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix was held Friday morning under overcast skies. The light rain at the end of the session was an omen of the wet weather that we would have during the race weekend. 2015 – Indy Car Paddock at the Detroit Belle Isle GP (May 29 to 31)

Rounds 7 and 8 of the Indy Car series were held on Belle Isle in Detroit (the motor city), Michigan. The street circuit is about 2.35 miles in length and has 14 turns. Arrived at the track on Thursday afternoon, and walked the paddock to watch the teams prepare their cars for practice on Friday. Hope you like the photos.

Race three of the Verizon Indy Car series started around 1.30 pm on the streets of Long Beach under beautiful blue skies. After 80 laps, Scott Dixon in the #9 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet won the race. Helio Castroneves in the #3 Team Penske Chevrolet was second and  Juan Pablo Montoya in the #2 Team Penske Chevrolet was third. The third round of the Indy Car series was held on the streets of Long Beach, California. The practice sessions were held over Friday and Saturday.  Josef Newgarden in the #67 CFH Racing Chevrolet topped the practice sessions with a best time of 01:07.8940 and speed of 104.351 mph. Simon Pagenaud in the #22 Team Penske Chevrolet was second fastest, and third fastest was Gabby Chaves in the #98 Bryan Herta Autosport with Curb-Agajanian Honda. 2015 – Indy Car Race at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg (Mar 27 to 29)

The first race of the Verizon Indy Car Series was held under sunny blue skies on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida. Juan Pablo Montoya in the #2 Team Penske Chevrolet won the race after 110 laps and over two hours of racing.
