Race three of the Verizon Indy Car series started around 1.30 pm on the streets of Long Beach under beautiful blue skies. After 80 laps, Scott Dixon in the #9 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet won the race. Helio Castroneves in the #3 Team Penske Chevrolet was second and Juan Pablo Montoya in the #2 Team Penske Chevrolet was third. Hope you like the photos.
Large crowds were on hand for the Indy Car race along the front straight.
For the start of the race went down to the grandstand on the outside of Turn 1 for shots of the cars speeding down the end of the front straight. The stands were also packed with spectators at this part of the track.
Before the start of each race, a lucky person gets to be driven around the track by Mario Andretti in a two-seater Indy Car.
Safety teams were on hand to respond to any track incidents.
