IndyCar practice was held on Friday and Saturday (August 1). Ryan Hunter-Reay in the #28 Andretti Autosport Honda topped the time-sheets with 01:06.5160 at a top speed of 122.208 mph after three practice sessions. Helio Castroneves in the #3 Team Penske Chevrolet was second fastest and third fastest was Jack Hawksworth in the #41 A.J. Foyt Enterprises Honda. Hope you like the photos.

The Honda Indy 200 was held at the picturesque Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course last weekend. The road course is about 2.4 miles long with 13 turns and is located in Lexington, Ohio. Different parts of the track are known as The Keyhole, China Beach, The Esses, Thunder Valley, and The Carousel. Over the next few blogs, hope to show you what its like to experience IndyCar at Mid-Ohio. First up is a walk around the paddock on Thursday (July 30) while the teams were setting up. IMSA returned to Lime Rock Park for the Northeast Grand Prix. The beautiful natural terrain track is about 1.5 miles in length and is situated in the Berkshire mountains in Lakeville, Connecticut. The PC Prototypes and GT Daytona (GTD) classes of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship (TUSCC) competed in the Saturday afternoon race. PC class was won by Mike Guasch and Tom Kimber-Smith in the #52 ORECA FLM09. Michael Marsal and Dane Cameron won the GTD class in the #97 Turner Motorsport BMW Z4. Hope you like the photos.

The Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) GTS class testing and practice were held on Thursday and Friday (June 25 and 26). After Practice 2, Mark Wilkins in the #38 Kinetic Motorsports/Kia Racing Kia Optima topped the charts with a fastest lap of 2:17.831 at 105.729 mph. GTA class was won by Frank Montecalvo in the #66 DragonSpeed Mercedes-Benz AMG SLS GT3 and GT-Cup was won by Colin Thompson in the #11 Kelly-Moss Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. On Saturday morning (June 27) the Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) and North America Sportscar held “Caffeine & Octane” at the RealTime Team paddock. This was a great way to meet the drivers while having a cup of coffee. Later that morning, the GT/GTA/GT-Cup classes held their warm-up session for the afternoon race. Round 12 was won by Chris Dyson in the #16 Bentley Team Dyson Racing Bentley Continental GT3. GTA class was won by Frank Montecalvo in the #66 DragonSpeed Mercedes-Benz AMG SLS GT3 and GT-Cup was won by Colin Thompson in the #11 Kelly-Moss Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. The Tudor United SportsCar Championship (TUSCC) prototype and GTD class cars were at Detroit Belle Isle for the Chevrolet Sports Car Classic. Eric Curran and Dane Cameron in the #31 Action Express Racing Corvette was the overall and P class winner. PC class was won by Renger van der Zande and Mirco Schultis in the #8 Starworks Motorsport ORECA FLM09. Ian James and Mario Farnbacher in the #23 Team Seattle/Alex Job Racing Porsche 911 GT America won GTD class. The IndyCar Chevrolet Dual in Detroit Race 1 was held Saturday afternoon under overcast skies and wet conditions. After 47 of the scheduled 70 laps, the race was red flagged due to bad weather. Carlos Munoz won his first IndyCar race in the #26 Andretti Autosport – HVM Racing Honda. Marco Andretti in the #27 Andretti Autosport Honda was second and Simon Pagenaud in the #22 Team Penske Chevrolet was third. GT Class Race #2 for the Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park was held Sunday mid-afternoon. Johnny O’Connell in the #3 Cadillac Racing Cadillac ATS-VR GT3 won the race. This was a “clean sweep” of the weekend races for Johnny O’Connell. The Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) qualifying at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park was held on Friday, with GTS class near noon and GT mid-afternoon.
In GTS class, Max Riddle in the #07 TRG-AMR Aston Martin Vantage GT4 took pole position with a time of 1:23.717 and speed of 105.742 mph. Not far behind were Kurt Rezzetano in the #37 Phoenix American Motorsports Ford Mustang and Jack Baldwin in the #73 GTSport Racing Porsche Cayman S.
For GT class qualifying, Johnny O’Connell in the #3 Cadillac Racing Cadillac ATS-VR GT3 took pole position with a time of 1:15.296 and speed of 117.568 mph. Second fastest was Olivier Beretta in the #61 R. Ferri Motorsport Ferrari 458 GT3 Italia, then Butch Leitzinger in the #20 Bentley Team Dyson Racing Bentley Continental GT3.

The Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) headed to Ontario Canada to be part of the Victoria Day Speedfest at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (also known as Mosport) during the middle of May. The 10-turn natural terrain track is about 2.5 miles long. This is one of the most beautiful circuits I’ve been to with its elevation changes, variety of turns, and long straight set amongst grass-covered hills and trees. This was my first time to Mosport, and must thank all the photographers and staff who helped me, especially the Canadian phototogs! Ferri Motorsport Ferrari 458 GT3 Italia won the GT class. The Tudor United Sports Car Championship (TUSCC) race on the streets of Long Beach was held Saturday afternoon under beautiful sunny skies. A field of 17 Daytona Prototypes (DP) and GT Le Mans (GTLM) cars raced for just over an hour and a half. After 78 laps the #10 Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP was first overall and the #25 BMW Team RLL BMW Z4 GTE won the GTLM class. Hope you like the photos.
