Round 3 of the TUDOR United Sportscar Championship (TUSCC) series on the streets of Long Beach was another event that I didn’t have time to write photo stories about earlier this year. The next few photo stories will be on the prototypes, then the GT sports cars which raced on this famous street circuit. Hope you like the photos.
Will Power started on pole position and led for about a third of the race, but took a spin on lap 40, which cost him several positions. Two laps from the end of the 85 lap race, Scott Dixon in the #9 Target Chip Ganassi passed Mike Conway and went on to win, with Ryan Hunter-Reay finishing second, and Simon Pagenaud third. Hope you like the photos.
The Saturday qualifying session for the Grand Prix of Sonoma was taken by Will Power with a fastest lap of 1 minute and 17.4 seconds. Josef Newgarden was second fastest and Scott Dixon third. Was an exciting qualifying session. Hope you like the photos.
The beautiful Sonoma Raceway is located at Sears Point in the Sonoma Mountains in California. This road circuit is about 2.5 miles in length, with 12 turns, and elevation changes of about 160 feet. Even though the on-track action was exciting, the weekend would be remembered for the earthquake that occurred. Despite this intervention by “Mother Nature”, the race went ahead as scheduled. Scott Dixon won the race, with Ryan Hunter-Reay placing second, and Simon Pagenaud coming third. Hope you like the photos.
The Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course is a 13 turn, 2.4 mile road circuit situated near Lexington in Mid-Ohio. The Honda Indy GP was held at this track, with the “Master of Mid-Ohio”, Scott Dixon winning for the fifth time. Sebastien Bourdais placed second and James Hinchcliffe took third. This was a great track to photograph at with all the elevation changes and natural terrain. Hope you like the shots.
Was a busy motorsport photography year. Because of this, I missed posting photo stories for some of the Indy Car Series races. The next couple of posts will be on the races I missed posting. First up is the Honda Indy Toronto. Hope you like the photos.
Over the last few weeks a Black and White Photo Challenge has been spreading over FaceBook. Not sure where it originated from, but the concept is that one photographer nominates another photographer to post one black and white photo each day for 5 days, and each day nominate another photographer. Hence, the Black and White Photo Challenge spread very quickly, and was a great way to share and see the work of others. What’s great is that a Facebook page dedicated to this challenge has been created (https://www.facebook.com/groups/743373815732831). I was fortunate to be nominated a couple of times for this challenge and wanted to share these photos. Hope you like the shots.
The last race of the 2014 Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) season was held mid-afternoon under clear weather conditions at Miller Motorsports Park. Following the end of Round 16, Johnny O’Connell took the GT class championship, with the GT-A class going to Michael Mills, and GTS class to Lawson Aschenbach. The GT class manufactures championship went to Cadillac, and Kia took the GTS class. Hope you like the photos.
