2023 GRIDLIFE Circuit Legends at Lime Rock Park (Part 2) (August 19)

As mentioned in the last blog, there was so much on and off track action at the GRIDLIFE Circuit Legends event at Lime Rock Park, needed to divide my recount of the day into multiple blogs. Here’s the second blog. Hope you like the photos.

After finishing lunch, walked around the paddock, starting at the Big Bend end of the A Paddock, to capture the many things going on in the paddock. For the car photos, tried to get shots of the car exterior, engine compartment and interior to give you an idea of the modifications done to these cars.

For some reason, this BMW really caught my eye. Maybe it was the dark blue paint work, against the dark grey skies, as well as the many words painted on the car.

Some Honda S2000’s.

Thought this was a really cool looking car, and was really impressed with the attention to detail of the work done to modify this car.

The Toyota Supra film car with a couple of Canon 1Dx cameras attached to the front of the car.

The Fallen Tires display, with truck, trailer and Ford Mustang parked outside.

Was great to get up close to the Mercedes Benz FCP Euro’s project 190E 2.0-16,  which is a modern tribute to the Golden Era of DTM Racing.

This FCP Euro Porsche “Yippie” Cayenne was very well equipped with LED flood lights, off-road wheels and tires, front tow hooks, roof rack etc.

Continued up the spectator hill, and looked back at the packed A Paddock.

At the top of the hill was a car concours with some really nice JDM cars on display, including some Mazda RX7’s side-by-side (top).

Looked at the schedule to see what was the next on track session, and saw it was the GLTC race 3, so headed down the Infield Spectator Hill, past the GRIDLIFE Arcade tent and over to the outside of the Righthander.

Some shots of the GLTC B cars entering and exiting the Righthander.

About 15 minutes later, the GLTC A race started, with the #41 Acura TSX leading the field into the Righthander.

Two Mazda’s in hot pursuit of a Chevy.

The #41 Acura TSX, continued to build its lead.

Once again, really enjoyed the GLTC session.

Around 2.20 pm, the second Drift session of the day started, and the Toyota Supra film car was one of the first to hit the track.

One of the shots I always try to get is this one, with the car in the foreground, and the iconic Lime Rock Park tower in the background. Here’s are a couple of examples, using different focal lengths +/- smoking tires.

The Falken Tires Ford Mustang.

Was great to see the BMW that I really liked in the paddock, on track, and racing by the Inner Spectator Hill.

The drifting cars kept speeding by with there rear tires leaving trails of smoke.

As the session continued, tried some really low shutter speeds, to make the background “disappear”, so the car would look more prominent.

This panning shot of a Toyota JZX100 was my favorite shot of the day, with the foreground and background, seeming to blend into one, with the white smoke trailing from behind the car.

A couple of shots to illustrate how the drifting cars take unusual lines on the track.

Some wide angle shots, to give you a perspective of this part of the track.

Noticed a red Toyota being chased by a Honda film car, so followed it as it drifted from the Lefthander to the Righthander.

Sometimes the cars would hit the dirt, creating a mixture of dirt and smoke.

Was really cooly seeing this Toyota Supra being chased by the Toyota Supra film car.

Wow, what another awesome drifting session. After it ended, walked back and along the Inner Spectator Hill area to get into position for the next track session. Thanks for spending your time reading this blog.
