2018 Room With a View at Jackson New Hampshire (Dec 29)

At the end of December last year, my wife and I spent a few days in Jackson, New Hampshire. The hotel we stayed at had beautiful views of the White Mountains. Hope you like the photos.

We left Boston around mid-day and took route I95N to New Hampshire, then route 16N along the Chocorua Mountain Highway. Along this highway we made a quick stop at Chocorua Lake where we saw a beautiful view of Mount Chocorua in the distance. At this time of year the lake was covered with ice and fisherman set up tents on the ice to protect them from the cold. There was also a beautiful blue hue across the scene.

We arrived at Jackson late at night, so didn’t get to see the surrounding views. However, the next morning we were greeted with a beautiful sunrise. The following series of photographs were taken from the hotel window. In the photo above, it was amazing how the storm clouds allowed a pocket of light to illuminate the snow-covered mountainside homes below.

As the sun started to rise, it cast light across the frame from right to left. Was a lot of fun just watching the light and waiting for the opportunity to capture the changing moments as the sun got higher in the sky.

With the rising sun, came rain, which led to a combination of bright light across the front of the frame and diffuse rays of light in the background.

Everywhere you looked there was beautiful light illuminating the trees below. I think I spent nearly an hour with my camera out the hotel window in awe of what was happening in front of me.

Thanks again for spending your time reading this blog.
