The season finale for the Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) was held at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah. This would be an exciting end to the season with several drivers and manufacturers championships on the line.
Miller Motorsports Park is about 35 miles west of Salt Lake City, and the full road course is about 4.5 miles with 23 turns, and is the longest road racing track in North America. First up will be the test and practice sessions, then the two races. Hope you like the photos.
It wasn’t until I arrived at the track that I realized how large it was. Its possible to get to the different parts of the track with a car, but a golf cart made getting around the track much easier. For the Thursday afternoon test session went to the outside of Turn 2, to get panning shots of the cars with the beautiful mountains in the background. Here’s a shot of Johnny O’Connell in the #3 Cadillac Racing Cadillac CTS-V Coupe with the inside wheels lifting as it speeds around the corner (Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II, 155mm, f/16, 1/160, ISO 100)

Even in black and white the chrome livery shines through on the #14 Global Motorsports Group Audi R8 Ultra being driven by James Sofronas (Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II, 102mm, f/20, 1/125, ISO 100)
After the test session, walked the paddock to get some shots of the case in the purpose-built garages. Here a mechanic is working on the #23 M1 Racing Audi R8 Ultra (Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 50mm f/1.2L, f/4, 1/200, ISO 100)

Excellent images David! The Audi R8 in black and white would definitely go on my Wall! Did you use any polarizer in any of the images to take away the glare? Excellent stuff as always David!
Thanks Leon for the kind words. Have really been enjoying processing some of the photos in B&W. I didn’t use a polarizer for the shots, but did adjust the highlights and shadows during processing
