Today was to be long and exciting day with many great photography opportunities on track and in the paddock. Was also fortunate enough to participate in the Audi Motorsport Experience, which I’ll talk about in Part 2 of the March 15 posting. For easy access to Turn 6, drove the car through Gate 1 and parked in the general parking area near the Walkover bridge and the Party Zone.Turn 6 (inside turn, morning)

For the morning shoot walked to the outside of Turn 6 to photograph the cars as they exited under the Driveover Bridge and went down the Turn 6 to 7 straight. In the morning the sun is at your back and illuminates the side and front of the cars. Great place for head on shots and side panning. My favorite car to shoot is the Audi R18 e-tron quattro, its amazing how fast this car goes, yet its so quiet (its strange, you know its coming when you hear “nothing”, then you hear a swoosh …. as it goes by). It is also a great location to photograph cars overtaking each other.

Paddock area

Walked over to the paddock area for lunch and took some people and event atmosphere shots. The paddock area was very crowded since is was the drivers autograph day, and its amazing who you see.
